My Journey Towards Tech

How I transitioned from accounting to tech

My career started in accounting, but along the way, I realized I was meant for something different. Here’s how I found my way to tech.

Starting Point: Accounting and Order Analyst Roles

I began my professional journey as an accounting staff right after graduation. While I was good at it, the work felt repetitive and didn’t ignite any passion. I soon moved on to work as an order analyst at Converge ICT Solutions Inc., a telecom company. Though it wasn’t directly related to tech, this job helped me manage complex data and understand how systems work—skills that would prove useful later.

Rediscovering My Passion for Tech

Back in high school, I created my first website using HTML, and that sparked an interest in tech that never really faded. As I worked in accounting and data management, I couldn’t ignore the pull toward programming and design. I knew it was time to dive back into what I loved.

My First Real Tech Role: Platform Delivery Consultant at Benifex

Now, I’m working as a Platform Delivery Consultant at Benifex, where I help UK companies build and customize their benefit platforms. This role is my first real step into tech, and it’s been an exciting ride. I get to work with clients and technical teams, ensuring platforms are tailored to meet specific needs. It’s the perfect blend of problem-solving, client interaction, and technology.

The Leap Into Tech

Making the leap wasn’t easy, but looking back, it was 100% worth it. I spent time learning, building my skills, and when the right opportunity came along, I took it. Now, I’m not just solving problems with numbers, but with technology. Every day brings new challenges and opportunities to learn.

Final Thoughts

If you’re stuck in a career that doesn’t light you up, don’t be afraid to explore something new. It might seem like a big leap, but following your passion is always worth it. Take the plunge—there’s so much to discover.
